Micro SDHC Memory Guide

Micro SDHC is a format of removable flash memory mainly used in small electronic devices such as cellular telephones, GPS devices, portable media players, MP3 players, video game consoles and expandable USB flash memory drives. The Micro SDHC is a higher capacity version of the original Micro SD card (The HC stands for "High Capacity"). The card is based on the SDA 2.00 specification, introduced by the SD card association. Micro SD and SDHC cards are currently the smallest memory cards available, at 15mm x 11mm x 0.7mm. For comparison, it is roughly the size of a fingernail, and a quarter of the size of an SD card. Adapters are available to allow the Micro SD and SDHC cards to be used in devices with a full sized SD slot, a MiniSD, and a Memory Stick Duo. However, not all devices will be fully compatible.
Micro SDHC cards start at 4 GB, with a theoretical maximum capacity of 32 GB. The largest current capacity is 16 GB. Cards with capacities smaller than 4 GB are available in the Micro SD format, which runs starts at just 64 MB. Some products are not compatible with the higher memory cards, For example several models of Nokia phones are not compatible with cards over 2 GB. A few other Nokia models will work with SDHC cards, but none over 8 GB. Be sure to verify that a higher capacity card will be compatible with your device before purchasing one.
Many popular cellular phones are compatible with the higher capacity SD cards. These include the BlackBerry Pearl and Curve, Many Motorola phones including the RAZR and the KRZR, dozens of models of Nokia phones (though as previously mentioned several models will only be compatible with cards 8 GB or lower), several models of Samsung mobiles, the Sidekick 3 and the Sidekick LX. Adding extra memory to cellular phones has become popular in recent years due to the addition of digital cameras, video recorders, and portable music players to the devices. Memory cards made for cellular phones are smaller in size, and with a lower voltage than ones for many other devices.
